Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to every quote we issue and every job we carry out across Kommetjie and the South Peninsula. They cover pricing and quotes, call-outs, the scope of an installation, our workmanship warranty, payment, cancellation and liability.
Last updated: 18 August 2026
1. The agreement between us
These terms and conditions govern the supply of satellite television installation, repair, realignment and maintenance services by DSTV Installations Kommetjie ("we", "us", "our") to you, the customer.
An agreement comes into existence when you accept a quote from us in writing, by email, by WhatsApp, or verbally, or when you allow us to begin work at your premises. Accepting a quote means you accept these terms.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any right you have that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008. Where any provision here conflicts with a right you have under that Act, the Act prevails to the extent of the conflict.
2. Quotes, estimates and pricing
We provide an upfront price before any work begins. Please note the distinction:
- A quote is a fixed price for a defined scope of work, given after we understand the site and the requirement.
- An estimate or "from" price — such as installations from R800, Extra View from R1,500 or call-outs from R550 — indicates a starting point only, and is not a fixed price until we have assessed the site.
Unless stated otherwise, a quote is valid for 30 days from the date of issue and covers labour and the materials listed in it. Equipment costs — decoders, dishes, LNBs and smartcards — are additional unless the quote expressly says they are included.
Where site conditions turn out to differ materially from what was described or visible at quoting — for example a wall that cannot take a standard fixing, an inaccessible ceiling void, asbestos sheeting, or a cable route substantially longer than assumed — we will stop, explain the position, and give you a revised price for your approval before continuing. We will not carry out additional chargeable work without your approval.
3. Call-outs, scheduling and access
A call-out fee applies to diagnostic and repair visits, from R550, and is payable whether or not the fault can be resolved on the visit. Where you then accept a quote for remedial work arising from that visit, we will tell you at the time whether the call-out fee is credited against it.
Same-day service is offered subject to technician availability and is not guaranteed. Where you call before 12:00 on a working day, we will normally reach addresses in Kommetjie, Ocean View, Sun Valley, Noordhoek, Scarborough and surrounding South Peninsula suburbs the same day.
Appointment times are given as a window, not a fixed minute. Weather, traffic on the M6 and M64, and the complexity of the job before yours can affect arrival. We will keep you informed if we are running late.
You are responsible for providing safe and lawful access to the property, the roof, the dish position and each television point, and for telling us in advance about locked gates, complex access procedures, body-corporate rules, dogs on the property, or anyone at the address who must be present.
4. Scope of work and site conditions
We will carry out the work described in the accepted quote with reasonable skill and care, using materials appropriate to a coastal environment.
Unless expressly quoted, the following are not included: repainting, plastering or making good decorative finishes around a drilled penetration beyond a reasonable seal; furniture moving; electrical work requiring a registered electrician; the supply of a mains socket at a new TV position; structural repairs; the removal of asbestos; and work at heights requiring scaffolding or specialised access equipment.
Drilling and cable routing necessarily involve penetrations to walls, ceilings and roofs. We take reasonable care to route sensibly and seal properly, but you accept that a satellite installation cannot be carried out without such penetrations.
Where you instruct us to install in a specific position against our technical advice, we will do so, but the workmanship warranty in section 6 will not cover signal performance issues attributable to that position, and we will note this on the invoice.
5. Equipment, subscriptions and MultiChoice
We are accredited installers. We are not MultiChoice, and we are not your subscription provider. Your DStv subscription, package selection, monthly fees, smartcard, account status and access-fee disputes are matters between you and MultiChoice.
Where equipment is supplied by us, it carries the manufacturer's warranty, and we will assist you in lodging a claim under it. Where equipment is supplied by you or already on site, we will install and configure it, but we do not warrant the equipment itself and we may decline to install equipment that is unsafe, damaged or unsuitable.
Risk in equipment supplied by us passes to you on installation. Ownership of equipment supplied by us remains with us until payment has been received in full.
Extra View is a MultiChoice residential product with its own rules, including that all linked decoders must be at the same physical address. We install and configure it correctly, but we cannot influence MultiChoice's authorisation decisions.
6. Workmanship warranty
We warrant our workmanship for 12 months from the date of the invoice. If, within that period, a fault arises that is caused by our workmanship — for example a connector that was not correctly terminated or sealed, a bracket that was not correctly fixed, or a cable run that was not correctly secured — we will return and put it right at no charge for labour or for the materials needed to correct our own work.
To claim, contact us on the number or email address on your invoice, describe the fault, and give us reasonable access to inspect it. We must be given the opportunity to inspect and remedy the fault ourselves before you engage another contractor; work carried out by a third party without giving us that opportunity ends the warranty on the affected installation.
7. What the warranty does not cover
The workmanship warranty does not cover:
- Equipment failure, which is covered by the manufacturer's warranty rather than ours.
- Storm, wind, lightning, flood, fire or other weather and force-majeure damage.
- Normal environmental deterioration on a marine coast over time, including corrosion of exposed hardware, which is why we recommend periodic maintenance inspections.
- Dish movement or misalignment caused by third parties, by other trades working on the roof, by ladders leaned on the mast, or by vegetation growing into the signal path.
- Damage caused by tampering, unauthorised modification or repair by anyone other than us.
- Signal degradation caused by new obstructions, building work, or changes at the property after our installation.
- Faults on the MultiChoice side, including subscription, smartcard authorisation and broadcast issues.
- Pre-existing cabling, brackets or equipment that we did not supply or install, unless we expressly quoted to replace or certify them.
8. Payment terms
Unless we have agreed different terms in writing, payment is due on completion of the work. We accept electronic funds transfer and the payment methods stated on the invoice. A deposit may be required where the job involves ordering equipment specifically for you.
Commercial customers with an approved account may be offered terms of 30 days from invoice date. Overdue amounts may attract interest at the maximum rate permitted by the National Credit Act and applicable law, and we may suspend further work and maintenance cover on the account until the balance is settled.
All prices include VAT where we are liable to charge it, and the invoice will state this.
9. Cancellation, rescheduling and no-access fees
You may cancel or reschedule a booked appointment. We ask for at least 4 hours' notice so that the slot can be reallocated.
If our technician arrives at the agreed address within the agreed window and cannot gain access, or the person who needed to be present is not there, or the work cannot proceed for a reason within your control, a no-access fee equal to the standard call-out fee may be charged to cover the wasted visit.
Where we cancel or cannot attend, we will reschedule at the earliest available slot at no additional charge, and any deposit paid for work not performed will be refunded.
Where equipment has been specially ordered at your request and you then cancel, you remain liable for the cost of that equipment.
10. Liability
We accept liability for direct loss or damage to your property caused by the negligence of our technicians while at your premises, and we will make good or compensate for such damage.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, and subject always to the Consumer Protection Act, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost income, lost bookings at a guest house or rental property, missed broadcasts or events, or loss of recorded content on a decoder hard drive.
We are not liable for interruptions to your DStv service arising from weather conditions, satellite or broadcast faults, MultiChoice account or authorisation issues, power failures or load-shedding, third-party interference, or new obstructions to the signal path.
Except where liability cannot lawfully be limited, our total liability arising from any single job is limited to the amount paid by you for that job.
Neither party is liable for failure to perform caused by events beyond reasonable control, including severe weather, fire, flood, civil unrest, national disaster, or the unavailability of a public utility.
11. Complaints and dispute resolution
If you are unhappy with any aspect of the work, contact us first — most issues are resolved with a return visit. Send the details to info@dstvinstallationkommetjie.co.za or call 079 754 5527, and we will acknowledge your complaint and set out how we intend to deal with it.
If we cannot resolve the matter between us, both parties will attempt in good faith to settle it by negotiation before either party commences legal proceedings. Nothing in this clause prevents you from approaching the National Consumer Commission or a relevant ombud, or from exercising any statutory right.
12. General terms
These terms, together with the accepted quote and the invoice, form the entire agreement between us in respect of the work described, and supersede any earlier discussion or representation.
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
Our failure to enforce any provision on one occasion is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page at the date your quote is accepted is the version that applies to that job.
This agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the parties submit to the jurisdiction of the courts of the Western Cape.
How we handle the personal information you give us is set out separately in our privacy policy.
