Security cameras planned around the property
Useful CCTV starts with coverage goals, not a box of cameras. We walk through the Kommetjie property, identify entrances, access routes and areas that need observation, then discuss camera positions and recording needs. The aim is clear, relevant footage without creating unnecessary blind spots or pointing cameras into private neighbouring spaces.
Lighting, distance, mounting height and the intended field of view all affect the result. A wide image is not automatically a useful identification image.
Choosing cameras and recording options
Camera type should match the position. Outdoor units need suitable weather protection, while low-light areas may require different capabilities from a bright entrance. We also plan the recorder location, storage expectations and safe power arrangement. Product features vary, so final equipment is matched to the agreed scope rather than promised generically.
Where network connectivity is part of remote viewing, our WiFi and network setup can assess the connection at the recorder and relevant camera locations.
Cable routes that remain serviceable
Wired cameras rely on well-planned cable paths. We avoid exposed loops, unsupported spans and unnecessary joints. Entry points are selected carefully, and outdoor routes must account for rain, salt air and direct sun. Equipment remains accessible for maintenance without making it easy to tamper with.
Older homes around Kommetjie Village can require surface routes or coordinated building work where no suitable conduit exists. We explain the visible route before installation begins.
Recorder, monitor and remote access setup
The recorder is connected, channels are named clearly and basic recording settings are configured for the selected system. We check the live views and recorded playback. If remote access is required, we connect supported equipment to the available network and assist with the standard app setup.
Remote viewing depends on the internet connection, provider availability and account security. Strong unique passwords and controlled user access are important.
Privacy-aware camera positioning
Cameras should protect your property without intruding on spaces where other people reasonably expect privacy. We discuss angles and masking options available on the chosen system. Property owners remain responsible for lawful use, signage, data handling and access to recordings.
For businesses that also need viewing systems, commercial DStv installation is handled as a separate service so entertainment and security infrastructure remain clearly scoped.
Testing and a usable handover
We test each agreed view in the conditions available during the appointment, confirm recording and show you how to find recent footage. Camera names should make sense at a glance. We also explain the limits of the chosen storage and connectivity setup.
If a television will serve as a dedicated monitor, TV wall mounting can be coordinated so the screen position, cable access and viewing angle are planned together.
CCTV Installation questions in Kommetjie
The number depends on entrances, layout, blind spots and the detail required. A short site assessment is more reliable than choosing a camera count from property size alone.
Many systems support remote viewing when compatible equipment, an app and a suitable internet connection are available. Provider services and network quality affect performance.
Standard equipment stops when its power source fails. Backup operation requires a correctly sized and maintained backup solution designed for the selected recorder, cameras and network equipment.
The property owner or system operator is responsible for lawful camera use, signage, access and recordings. We can position equipment carefully, but we do not provide legal advice.
